Hit Points, Physical Attack, Physical Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed: Those exist in every Pokémon. Using them masterfully along with the right item, ability, typing, move set, mechanic, team balance, care and love, and of course brilliant thinking mid battle will lead the trainer into victory!
The final
battle of the Tag League was about to start. All of the GYM leaders, Elite
Fours and Champions gathered. Cynthia was especially interested in watching
Waiareas. She considered him to be stronger than her, but unless he is going to
master Mega Garchomp there is no way to really tell. He lost against her in the
past, but that was only him using Mega Garchomp. But if he could do what she is
never done, turning Mega Garchomp into a stronger beast than the regular form
it will be a definite proof that he stronger than her.
Uva
Academy students were also excited to watch the match on the big screens. In
was the first time of the history of the school that both opponents will battle
in the final of the league. But in this case it wasn't two; it was four. Clavell
was proud at Waiareas and Ryu. From don't recognizing Pokémon they managed to
participate in the League, and even reaching the finals. But he believed that
Theom and Tuuina will be the ones to win.
Everyone
sat in their seats in crowd. "Matoi, have you decided what to do?"
Nog asked.
"I
still haven't decided yet. But the answer is going toward no; probably."
"Give
me an answer until tomorrow."
"I'd
say that you should prepare the papers."
"You
won't hate me for that, right?"
"Of
course not! We'll stay friends even after that."
Waiareas
and Ryu walked into the stadium from the right entry while Theom and Tuuina
walked from the left entry.
"Mister
Waiareas, Miss Ryu…" Tuuina said "I met both of you two years ago.
Without you I couldn't have reached here."
"It
is true." Theom added. "If not you I would have probably still
treated my sister badly. Therefore there is only one way I can show my
gratitude to you!"
"Which
is to defeat us, right?" Waiareas asked.
"Yes.
That's the only way."
"That's
not going to happen." Ryu said.
"That's
what I wanted to hear!" Tuuina called. "Go! Ambipom!"
Theom
summoned his Archaludon, the Steel/ Dragon type bridge monster.
Waiareas
summoned his Garchomp, while Ryu summoned her Vaporeon.
"Tuuina!
Let's start! Do it!"
"Right!
Ambipom use Fury Swipes!"
"Who
the hell is using Fury Swipes…" Uzib mocked them "It is such a
useless move! Weak, and attacks at a random number."
"Due
to her ability, Skill Link this move will attack five times!"
"Ukay
now it is kind of okay…." Uzib said.
"Attack
Achaludon!" Tuuina called.
"I
knew it! She is an idiot!"
Archaludon
was damaged five times in a row. But due to the Steel's type resistance to
Normal type it barely received damaged.
"Garchomp!
Go!" Waiareas called "Earthquake!!!!!"
"Vaporeon,
use Protect."
Garchomp
attacked with the Ground type move and defeated Ambipom. It is okay; she served
her role in the battle. Despite Archaludon was attacked with such a strong
super effective move, it wasn't damaged enough. Waiareas was surprised. "So
that's was the reason…" Waiareas said.
Theom
smiled "Archaludon's Ability did this. It is called Stamina; when it hit
by an attack its Physical Defense increases."
"And
thanks to Fury Swipes it was hit five times!" Tuuina added.
"Arachaludon!
Dragon Pulse!" The twins ordered. The attack damaged Garchomp very badly,
but it survived with very low health.
Tuuina
summoned her Pinsir. She clicked her Mega Stone "Let's do it Pinsir! Mega
Evolution!" Pinsir became faster and much stronger. It gained the Flying
type as well. "Defeat the Garchomp! X-Scissor"
"Garchomp!
Come back!" Waiareas switched his Pokémon and called his Skeledirge. Ryu
switched her Vaporeon at the same time and summoned her Dragonite. The
X-Scissor hit the stupid croc and didn't do much damage due to the type
resistance. Theom ordered his Archaludon to attack the Vaporeon with
Thunderbolt but due to Ryu's switch it hit the Dragonite which didn't do enough
damage.
"Good
call!" Theom called "You predicted our attack."
"That
wasn't the only reason that we've switched to Skeledirge." Ryu said.
That's right! Now due to the stupid croc's ability, Unaware the boost from
Stamina is gone as long as Skeledirge will be on the field! But now the
Furukawas had a different problem; the must let Skeledirge stay on field as
long as Archaludon is there as well. A big problem when it is the slowest
Pokémon on field!
Ryu looked
at Tuuina's eyes. She tried to predict her next move. Sometimes you don't have
any choice but to attack at full force. Tuuina ordered her Pinsir to use Rock
Slide in order to hit both Skeledirge and and Dragonite. It missed the attack
on Skeledirge but hit Dragonite and lowered its Hit Points very close to
fainting. Theom assumed that his Archaludon would be faster than the Dragonite,
but was wrong at his assumption. Ryu ordered her Dragonite to attack with Earthquake
and hit with a Critical Hit all Pokémon on field. Mega Pinsir that was a
Flying/ Bug type survived, but the two other Pokémon fainted. Skeledirge served
his role well. Without it Archaludon might have been unstoppable.
"Go!
Kabutops!" Waiareas called.
Theom
summoned his next Pokémon; Houndoom. "Is that...?" Waiareas asked.
"That's
right! That is the Houndour I've caught during that day two years ago. That
Houndour forged the bond between me and Tuuina, the one that was caught due to
my arrogance. It is thanks to you that I was able to overcome my bad
personality!"
"Impressive."
Ryu said. "You kept it for this long, and now you are using it at the
final battle of the League."
"Miss
Ryu, Mister Waiareas, we kept idolizing you for so long." Tuuina said.
"But it ends now. Theom! Let's do it! Houndoom… Mega Evolution!!!!"
"Houndoom!
Use Dark Pulse" Theom ordered it to use the Dark Type move on Dragonite.
He succeeded and defeated it. Tuuina ordered her Mega Pinsir to use Submission
on the Kabutops but missed the attack. Then Waiareas ordered Kabutops to use
Liquidation on Houndoom and hit with decent damage, but not strong enough to
defeating it.
Ryu called
back her Vaporeon. Ryu knew it won't able to survive for long. Therefore she
ordered it to use Quick Attack on Mega Pinsir which did very low damage. Theom
and Tuuina then targeted the Vaporeon. They assumed that if Waiareas didn't use
Rock Slide previously, it probably doesn't have the move on his Kabutops
moveset, and they felt safe to attack it. And so, they defeated it.
"Rock
Slide" Waiareas ordered. Thankfully it missed.
"Damn!
That's was close!" Theom said nervously.
"Yeah!
Waiareas, you've surprised us!" Tuuina joined. "Theom! Let's defeat
the Kabutops!"
As her
final Pokémon Ryu summoned Gardevoir. "Mama! Do it!!!!!" Miakko
called.
Ryu
clicked her Mega Stone. "Mega Evolution! Come, Mega Gardevoir!". Her
Speed and Special Attack increased massively.
"Theom!
Target Waiareas' Kabutops! His next Pokémon is Garchomp which is on very low
health! We still have four Pokémon left!"
"Houndoom…"
Theom ordered. "Dark Pulse!" Houndoom used this move that then
defeated the Kabutops. Then Tuuina ordered her Pinsir to use X-Scissor on Mega
Gardevoir which was very close to beating it. But "close" wasn't
enough. That low health that was left was enough for Mega Gardevoir to use
Dazzling Gleam which defeated both Mega Houndoom and Mega Pinsir.
Theom and
Tuuina summoned their final Pokémon, the Steel/ Bug Type Forretress, and the
Water/ Fighting type Quaquaval. Waiareas summoned back his Garchomp which was
very close to fainting. "We won!" Theom rejoiced. "We locked
them in a way they can't win! The only way for them to defeat our Pokémon is to
attack them with both of their Pokémon with moves that hit both foes! But the
only way of doing it is for Waiareas using Earthquake. But by doing so it will
take down the Mega Gardevoir since it is faster than her!"
'Aren't we
missing something…?' Tuuina was thinking. While thinking that she was seeing
Waiareas' little smile. 'No… We've lost… They won…'. She dropped a drop of tear
as she understood they've lost.
"Hahahaha!"
Waiareas started laughing "Theom! Are you sure about that? There isn't
really a way for us to win?"
"What
are you talking about?! The only way for you guys to win is if by a magical way
Garchomp will attack after Mega Gardevoir!"
"In a
case you've forgotten, I still haven't used my Mega Evolution!" he clicked
his Mega Stone "Mega Garchomp! Go!"
'By doing
this now Mega Garchomp is slower than Mega Gardevoir!' Cynthia was thinking.
'Furukawa Waiareas…. You found the very small niche that Mega Garchomp could succeed
over regular Garchomp!'
"Dazzling
Gleam!!!!" Ryu ordered and did a decent damage to both of Tuuina's and
Theom's Pokémon.
"Earthquake!!!!!"
Waiareas ordered.
Theom fell
on his knees "We had it! We were supposed to win! We locked them! But for
such a small niche we were defeated!" he smashed his fist at the ground.
"It
was small niche… but it just means they used it to their advantage. That's what
makes them better Pokémon trainers." Tuuina said while trying to hide her
tears.
Tal and
Kobi brought the winner cup "Congratulations." Tal said. "Mister
Furukawa, Miss Ryu, tomorrow starts the Single League. Is there something you
would like to say to the next challengers as the winners of the Tag
League?"
Waiareas
took the microphone "Tomorrow many of you will try to win. You must have
high hopes and dreams, but sorry to tell you, none of you are going to
win."
'Papa!!!!!
What are you doing?!!!!!' Miakko screamed in her mind.
"Your
dreams are going to fall apart tomorrow." Waiareas kept talking "Do
you want to know why? One girl is going to do that. She is my daughter,
Furukawa Miakko. She is going to defeat each one of you! You are done
for!"

Finally we
are done with Double Battles. Writing them was the most difficult thing for me
to write in this whole story. I had to take in heart so many things that happen
at the same time. What's made it even more difficult, is that I don't have any
experience in Double Battles. When I used to play online I've played only in Single
Battles, but never Double. Hopefully the Single Battles will be easier to write…
