Hit Points, Physical Attack, Physical Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed: Those exist in every Pokémon. Using them masterfully along with the right item, ability, typing, move set, mechanic, team balance, care and love, and of course brilliant thinking mid battle will lead the trainer into victory!

Waiareas and Ryu screamed while
falling from the black stream in the sky in high speed. They landed safely due
their past battle skills. Waiareas was a master of using swords and guns, while
Ryu also had a long experience with swords but preferred to use throwing knives
as part of her battle style.
"What is this place?"
wondered Waiareas. He looked at a Fearow nests on a tree and feeds its young
Spearow chicks with a delicious Caterpie. Waiareas and Ryu didn't recognize
those animals from their world. "Miakko!!!" he called. Ryu joined him
and the two searched for her at Route 1 of Kanto.
"Can I help?" saw them Oak who
was at the field.
"We are searching for our
daughter." explained Ryu. "A six years old girl, named Furukawa
Miakko, she has a light blue hair just like my husband."
It took a few seconds to remember but
then it hit him! They are the people from the photo eleven years ago. "I
know a girl named Miakko with a blue hair, but she isn't six; she is sixteen."
"Oh sorry. So it must be a
different person. Sorry that I bothered you." apologized Waiareas.
"Wait! That girl, Miakko Blaze,
she is clearly your daughter." said Oak. "I clearly remember you two
from a photo from eleven years ago."
"We lost her during her birthday
which is today, August 18." said Ryu.
"Today is June 16."
"What the hell is going on here?
We are now on a completely different date?" Ryu was confused.
"You came from another
dimension, right?" Oak threw his Pokeball and released a Pokémon.
"Can you recognize this yellow mouse with long thin ears and a thunder
shaped tail?"
"I never have seen this thing?
But there are a lot of different animals in the world. I can't recognize all of
them, right?" said Waiareas.
"It is true; but not this one.
This Pokémon is Pikachu; the most popular Pokémon in the world. If you can't
recognize it at your age it is an issue." "I can see now. You two are
clearly Miakko's parents. Even though you look the same as in the photo from
eleven years ago, and I can't explain that, you are her parents."
"So I would like to meet my
daughter as soon as possible." Waiareas was anxious. "Take me to her.
Please."
"Hold on a minute. I won't stop
parents to meet their daughter if they want to. This is your right. However,
would you consider this? Miakko doesn't remember anything about you. Not your
face, nor your name. Would it be the best for Miakko to be taken by people she
doesn't know?"
"What are you implying?"
Waiareas glared at him.
"Miakko is soon going to become
a Pokémon trainer and try to be best trainer in the world. You have great
chance to bond with her. Simply, for a year, become Pokémon trainer alongside
her. This is how you'll bond with her for a whole year before telling her the
truth."
"I don't understand about that
Pokémon thing, but they are basically what you call an animal and you fight
with them?" asked Ryu. "If Miakko wish to the best trainer, then I
don't wish to fight against her and ruin her dream."
"No, no. You won't be a wall for
her. The exact opposite; There is tag tournament that takes place at the same
time. You two look like as if you could work together masterfully as a husband
and a wife."
"What do you say,
Waiareas?"
"I get your point, Ryu. I'll go
for it. For Miakko I'll do anything. But we know nothing about Pokémon in the
first place. How are we supposed to become trainer? What's more, to actually
win?"
"That's where I'll help you
two." said Oak. "There is a school to study everything you'll need
about that. Go to Uva academy in Paldea. You'll meet there the school principal
Clavell. He is a good friend of mine. I'll explain everything to him." He
took out from his pocket two Pokedex and nice amount of cash. "Use this
Pokedex to scan Pokémon and learn about them. I'll order for you a taxi for
Vermilion City, from then ride a ship to Paldea."
"Why do you help us so
much?" asked Ryu. "You could leave us to handle by ourselves."
"Does someone need a reason to
help for people in a crisis? Now go!"
"Thank you!" Waiareas shook
Oak's hand. "I really don't know how to thank you!"
"Waiareas, let's become the best
trainers in the world! Alongside Miakko!"
"Wow Waiareas! Look! So many weird
animals!" Ryu go excited over seeing so many Pokemon while she and
Waiareas were sitting in the back sit of the taxi which taked them to Vermillion.
"What da fuck! Ryu look! A
walking radish!". Waiareas what's wrong you? Are you a kid? You are 30
years old for fuck sake! Damn these humans!!!!
Ryu saw a canine looking mammal with
a mane, orange fur with black stripes running. "So this thing is called
Growlithe." She checked on the Pokedex. "I'd like to catch one for
myself. It looks majestic."
"You two are talking like it is
first time you see Pokémon." said the driver.
"Oh yeah, it is the first
time." said Ryu. "Oh and now there is a nice yellow naked man with a
big nose takes his grandson to the forest."
'Wait what…. a yellow man? This is
not good…' the driver was thinking.
"So even the people in this
world don't look like how they look in our world…" Waiareas was curious.
'No no…. they probably look the same
as where you came from!!!! This is not good!!!'. Then he reached Vermillion.
Waiareas and Ryu went outside the car. "Fuck!!!! The kid!!!! I must help
him!!!!!" He pushed the gas and drove as fast as he could. He ignored the
traffic laws and was killed in a traffic incident.
Waiareas and Ryu went and stood up in
the line for the ship sail. "Two tickets for Pladea please" ordered
Ryu.
"200 Poke dollars" please
said the cashier. Waiareas gave him the cash. He noticed that Oak gave them
almost ten times the cash than they needed for the sail. "So you two are
on your honey moon or something?"
Ryu and Waiareas looked on each other
eyes. "I guess you call that like that." giggled Ryu.
"When I think about that, since
Miakko was born we didn't have time for ourselves."
"Waiareas, let's enjoy this
trip. We'll become the best trainer in the world, for Miakko's sake!"
"It will take you a week before
reaching Paldea." said the cashier. "The ship will sail away in two
more days. In the meanwhile you can sleep in your room of the ship. Just make
sure to come three hours before sailing."
"Two days… What do you want to
do, Waiareas?"
"I guess it is the best to learn
about Pokémon and understand about battling."
They went around Vermillion city,
searched for trainers battling to watch an actual battle. They found a very big
facility. It was the stadium of Vermillion City's GYM, and went inside.
"Oh, I'm sorry" said a very tall man with huge muscles. We are
closed. "We'll be open in two months once the next League will
start."
"We are just trying to find a
place we can watch a battle." explained Ryu.
"Now of all times? Most trainers
use these months to rest until the League will start."
"Please? We never saw a Pokémon
battle before." insisted Ryu.
"What?! How is this even possible
at your age?!". "Don't tell me you don't know what typing is? Like if
that could happen…"
"What is typing?" asked
Waiareas.
Surge slammed his palm at his face.
"What's wrong with you guys?! Fine, I'll show you a battle so you could
understand a bit." "Elly, come for a second! You'll battle with me!
Make sure to bring with a water type Pokémon and a grass type Pokémon."
"Surge I'll lose you know! You
are too strong for me to beat!"
"The point is to teach them! Not
to win or lose!"
Waiareas and Ryu watched the battle
closely. "Listen, typing is the core basics of Pokémon battling. Every Pokémon
has a type. Some have two. Every type has other type it is weak against to as
well. And all of them, except for normal, have a type that they are strong
against. For example, my GYM is based on the electric type, so to beat me most
trainers will try using a ground type move against my Pokemon." He threw
his Pokeball, and the electric Pokémon came out.
"Oh I know that!" said
Waiareas. "This thing is called 'Pikachu'"
"Looks like at least you know
something."
"Heh, we didn't know this creature
until a few hours ago" giggled Ryu.
"Go! Magikarp" called Elly
and released the red useless fish.
"Watch this!" said Surge. "Pikachu,
use Thunderblot!" he ordered and so the Pikachu shot a yellow strong
lightning, which caused the useless fish to faint. "Simple, right? Electric
is strong against water.". "However, look what is going to happen
next. Elly, send out your next Pokémon."
"Go! Exeggcute!" called
Elly and released the six eggs looking creature.
"Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt again!"
called Surge, and so Pikachu did as it was ordered to. However, this time, the
opposing Pokémon didn't faint. "So to put it simply, Exeggcute is a grass
type, which resists electric. It means that the damage was taken was cut by
half."
"Energy Ball!" ordered Elly.
The Pikachu didn't faint. "You see. Despite grass resists electric, it
doesn't mean it is strong against it. Which means it does a normal damage
against it."
Waiareas and Ryu took out a notebook
and wrote it down. "However" said Surge. "Even if you are in disadvantage,
it is not over yet! Go, use Signal Beam!" The Pikachu did as it was
ordered and destroyed those stupid eggs. "You see, this move is a bug type
move. So two things happened here; the first is that Exggcute is both grass
type and psychic type. Which both are weak against bug. It means that it will
take four times the damage than usual."
"So Pokemon can use moves from
types that are not their own type?" asked Ryu.
"Indeed. The only thing you have
to remember is "STAB", which means "Same Type Attack
Bonus". It means that when a Pokémon use a move that is the same typing as
their own typing it will be stronger Pokémon that use it who are not part of
this type."
"I see…" said Waiareas.
"And since some Pokémon have two types they will get two different
STAB."
"You are a fast learner.
However, you should remember that type advantage is only a fraction for winning
a battle. Some trainers defeated me by using water type Pokémon since they had
a different and great strategy."
Ryu and Waiareas went out of the GYM.
"So that's a Pokémon battle. I feel like I've learned a lot, Ryu."
"Even though… we didn't ask
about double battles… It must be a lot different."
"Don't worry about that Ryu! As
long you are on my side I don't have to worry. We defeated Itura together,
didn't we?"
"Even though it is very
different than using swords."
"Come to think about it, there
are probably Pokémon who use swords, or maybe there aren't?"
The two went inside the ship, and
waited until for the time to ship to sail. Another adventure is about to begin!
Writer notes:
So I to explain just one thing about how the moves in this novel will be handled. Every Pokémon might use any move it has across the nine generations of the main series of video games. Pikachu used in the chapter "Signal Beam" which it had in generation five as an egg move. As long a pokemon could learn a move in some point, there is an option for me to let use it in the story. I want to clarify it now, since Signal Beam is not a move that you think about "yes, that's a Pikachu move", as I might use many different moves in this novel.
